The Thistle & Timber Foundation creates space for wonder & connection with the natural world - restoring native prairies, protects and enhances woodlands, and invites children and adults to reconnect with nature.

We will do this through the restoration of native prairies, managing non‑native species in woodlands, and safeguarding native butterfly habitat.

We will do this through advancement of herbicide‑free invasive control and science‑based exploration to restore native grasslands.

It started with a box of caterpillars. Watching my children, Willow and Wilder, witness the magic of transformation planted a question in me:

Why am I not doing more?

After years of work in oil and gas utilities, I saw chemicals being sprayed in stations and on right-of-ways that could otherwise support butterflies and biodiversity. Over the years, I eventually found it impossible ignore the gap between what we're doing to the land and what's possible in creating a more beautiful world for the future.

I founded Thistle & Timber Foundation to champion herbicide-free restoration of native grasslands, support monarch and pollinator habitat, and reconnect communities, especially young people, with the natural world
